VCMS Summer Theater Camps
Students will receive all audition materials on their first day of camp. However, the songs from each musical will be available prior to the camps for all students who have registered. We will have auditions for parts in the Wizard of Oz and the Broadway Revue on day one. The elementary school production of the Wizard of Oz is an adaptation which runs approximately 40 minutes and the Middle/High school Broadway Revue will vary in length depending upon registration numbers.
After registration, you will receive a registration form and monologues from each show to memorize if you would like to audition for a certain part. All of this information will be emailed to you. If your student does not wish to audition for a certain part but would like to be in the ensemble, please indicate that on the registration form; there are plenty of ensemble parts available if students are not yet comfortable with a singing/speaking role.
This will be a fast-paced, fun week of theater camp and students will be dancing, singing and acting so please dress so you can move freely in comfortable clothes. Jazz shoes are encouraged. Hair needs to be out of your face. Lunch is provided each day and if students have any allergies please indicate on the registration form you will receive after registering on the website.
Drop off time is 8:45 AM at the front door each morning, class begins at 9:00 AM promply. Students may come around to the backdoor if they are running late. Pick up is promptly at 2:00 PM as other lessons and activities will occur in the studio following camp each day.

A Fairytale February Recital
The stage is set for students to enchant us all with their performances of timeless classics. The students will transport us all to the realm of the fantastic as they sing and play the piano with passion. There will be a reception and pictures during the recital as well.

Theater Workshop Monologues
Need help choosing monologues for auditions? We will teach you tips and methods to select one and learn characterization for the best performance. Each student will have a winning monologue for their repertoire by the end of the workshop. $35 per student.

Twilight Festival
VCMS staff and students will perform and lead in Karaoke for the public to participate in. Setup will be on the steps of the courthouse.
ANNUAL COOKOUT/DISNEY SHARE NIGHT
$25 per Student
Each year we have a picnic celebrating our students and all the work they do! This year after our picnic students will share songs from a variety of Disney movies. this is an opportunity to showcase their hard work in a small setting. This will be live and recorded to see as well.
Theater Characterization Workshop with Guest Artist McKenzie Snellgrove
$35 per Student
Where do actors get their understanding of a particular character and how does this impact their vocal and physical choices for given roles?
Through large and small groups Ms. Rachele and McKenzie will guide the exploration of how actors use the text to find facts and clues to start building a role based on identifying characteristics. We hope to build upon students understanding of the characters with an emphasis on the choices that we actors have to make when given specific roles in productions.
Guest artist McKenzie Snellgrove is junior at Centre College majoring in English and Theatre. She is a Jane of all trades theatrically…acting on stage, building and designing sets, Propmaster, and making puppets. Her credits include Dakota in “The Inseparables”, Jenny Hill in “Big Fish”, Propmaster and designer for “Hamlet”, Set Designer for “Eurydice” and “The Little Mermaid”. When not on stage or in the theatre, she can be found writing, drinking coffee, or reading old books. She is excited to be participating in this workshop.
